Product Video Production Cost: What You Pay For

The honest answer to what a product video costs is that it depends, which is useless when you are trying to set a budget. So this guide does three things. It shows the price ranges published by production companies this year, explains what moves a quote up or down, and shows how ecommerce brands get more usable video out of the same money.

What the market charges

Published price guides vary, but they agree on the shape. Here are the ranges two of them give for 2026, in US dollars for US production:

  • Ecommerce product showcase: around $1,000 to $3,000 at the budget end, $3,000 to $7,000 mid range and $7,000 or more for premium work, according to Vidico's 2026 guide.
  • Short social clips and teasers: a few hundred dollars up to a few thousand per clip in both guides.
  • 3D product animation: the widest range of all, from around $5,000 into five figures for complex work, per Vidico.
  • Launch commercials and brand films: tens of thousands of dollars and up, because they need crews, locations, talent and heavy post production.

Treat these as a map of the market, not a quote. The same guide also notes that rates vary a lot by region, with production in Europe and Asia priced well below US rates. That gap is the reason many brands and agencies in the US, UK and Gulf now work with offshore production teams.

What actually drives the price

Every quote is built from the same few ingredients. Knowing them helps you decide where to spend.

Pre production. Concept, script, shot list, styling plan, casting and location. This is where a good team saves you money, because every decision made on paper is one less decision made on an expensive shoot day.

Shoot days. Crew size, camera and lighting kit, studio or location fees, and talent. A clean studio product shot needs a small crew. A lifestyle film in a styled home with a model needs a bigger one.

Number of products and variants. Cost scales with SKUs. Ten colours of the same bottle can be shot efficiently in one setup. Ten different products each need their own lighting and styling.

Post production. Editing, colour grading, sound design, music licensing, motion graphics and text. Animation and 3D are billed on complexity, so a short animated clip can cost more than a longer live action edit.

Formats and versions. Every extra cut for a different placement, every language version and every aspect ratio adds editing time. Planned before the shoot, these are cheap. Requested after it, they can mean reframing shots that were never composed for a vertical screen.

Revisions. Most quotes include one or two rounds. Unclear briefs lead to more rounds, and extra rounds cost money.

Where brands overspend

  • One hero video, no cutdowns. The brand pays for a beautiful film, then has nothing for ads, product pages or social.
  • A new shoot every month. Booking crew and kit for small, separate shoots costs far more than one well planned shoot day.
  • Changing direction on set. A vague brief turns the shoot day into the planning meeting, with the whole crew waiting.
  • Premium polish where it does not matter. A paid social ad that will run for three weeks rarely needs the same grade as a homepage film.

How to get more videos from the same budget

Batch your shoots. Group products and formats into one or two shoot days. Bambuser's guide notes that batching and templated studio setups can cut the cost per video sharply, and that matches what we see: the setup is the expensive part, and every extra product shot in it is cheap.

Plan every placement first. List the website hero, product pages, Meta and TikTok ads, organic reels and marketplace listings before the shoot. We then frame and capture for all of them on the day. Our product video brief template covers exactly this.

Shoot for ads, not just for the brand. Ads need variety: several openings, a demo, a problem and solution, an offer. Capturing those extra moments on the shoot day costs minutes. Coming back for them later costs another day.

Mix studio and lifestyle. Clean studio shots for product pages and marketplaces, lifestyle shots for ads and the homepage. Both can often come from one location with two setups.

Use 3D where a camera struggles. For products that are hard to light, not yet manufactured, or need exploded views, 3D can be the better route even if the first video costs more, because new angles and versions are cheaper afterwards.

What a sensible budget looks like

For most ecommerce brands, the best value is not one expensive film but a content package: one planned shoot that delivers a hero film, short cutdowns for every ad placement, vertical reels, product page loops and stills. Ask any production team for a quote structured that way. Then compare quotes on cost per finished, usable asset, not on the price of the hero film alone.

Questions to ask before you approve a quote

  • How many shoot days, and what crew is included?
  • Which formats, lengths and versions are delivered?
  • How many revision rounds are included, and what does an extra round cost?
  • Is music licensed for paid ads, and for how long?
  • Who owns the raw footage, and can we use it for future edits?
  • What do you need from us before the shoot day?

Working with an offshore team

The regional price gap is real, but only worth it if quality and communication hold up. Look for a team that shows work in your category, gives you one named contact, plans in writing before the shoot and shares progress in one place. We wrote an honest guide to offshore creative teams versus in house if you are weighing it up.

We shoot product films, ads and 3D animation for ecommerce brands from our studio in Lahore and our office in Dubai. See how we work with ecommerce brands, browse the films on our work page, or send us your product list for a quote built per asset.
